About

Who is Madeline?

Hi! I’m Madeline Blake, and I believe food is more than something we eat — it’s a way we hold on to the people, places, and little moments that matter most. My love for cooking began in my mom’s quiet kitchen in Oregon, where the smell of cinnamon toast and rainy mornings meant everything was right in the world.

My Story

Some people fall in love with food through fancy restaurants.
Mine started with messy counters and mismatched measuring cups.

After graduating from culinary school in 2019, I worked in a fast-paced bistro where every plate had to be flawless. But what I missed was the magic — the smiles, the storytelling, the soulful part of cooking. The part where you pass down a pancake recipe with scribbled notes or learn that your grandma’s “secret” chili ingredient is just a dash of cocoa powder and a lot of heart.

That moment of clarity came during a slow weekend visit back home. My niece and I were baking banana bread with my mom, three generations all tossing flour and laughing over sunlit countertops. I realized then: the food I want to create isn’t just delicious — it’s meaningful.

So I started MeloBites — a cozy space for calm, comforting recipes made with real ingredients and real memories. Whether it’s a simple weeknight pasta, a warm breakfast skillet, or a feel-good dessert, every recipe here is about more than food — it’s about feeling at home.

Madeline: Behind the Bites

🥞 First dish I ever made?
My mom’s cinnamon French toast. I still remember her saying, “You’ll know it’s ready when it smells like Sunday.”

🌿 Favorite ingredient?
Lemon zest. It’s small, bright, and instantly makes any dish feel alive.

📓 Most treasured kitchen item?
A vintage wooden spoon passed down from my grandmother. It’s stained, cracked, and absolutely perfect.

🧁 Biggest cooking realization?
Perfection is overrated. The best meals come with splatters, laughter, and maybe a burned edge or two.

👩‍🍳 Kitchen mentor?
My mom — the calmest cook I know. She taught me that good food doesn’t need to be complicated.

🌍 Dream food destination?
A little home kitchen in Tuscany, kneading pasta dough while someone’s nonna tells you stories.

💬 Best cooking advice I ever got?
“Cook with intention, serve with love.”

🍽 Cooking philosophy in one line?
Simple food, rich in meaning.
